All natural horse care in the west of Ireland

Pedestal
Saturday, 25 October 2008

Two Satrurday's ago a friend of mine brought me a pedestal for us to play with. We have been using wooden pallets with a rubber mat on but I am always worried that they might splinter under the horses weight.

It was tipping it down with rain but I couldn't resist trying out our new toy.

Here are a couple of pictures of us all trying it out. This is Harley having a go with Magpie & Polly checking it out. elephant_stand_all.jpg

The pedestal needs to be modified slightly. It's a tractor tyre with yacht ply but because the ply overlaps the tyre if the horse stands slightly off centre the tyre gives lightly to one side.

We have decided that if the ply were trimmed slightly smaller than the circumferance of the tyre the weight would be evenly distributed inside the tyre.

Will let you know how that works out.

My friend has decided to produce Round Pens, Grading Gates, Metal Elephant Stands and Rocking Bridges to sell in Ireland. Needless to say I have pre-booked my order for one of each.

Can't wait to try them out and because they will be made metal they should last a lifetime!!

He is in the process of making samples. I will post some pictures and technical specs as soon as I get hold of them.If you are interested in any of these toys, drop me an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and I will pass on your enquiry

It will be great to get a local supplier for this stuff in Ireland as they are too bulky and heavy to ship in from Europe or UK
