Bitless Bridle
Friday, 04 January 2008

magpiebitless.jpgI ride Magpie in this bridle sometimes. Have tried many, many different bits but if it is too severe she ALWAYS puts her tongue over the bit and spends more time concentrating on how to avoid the bit than what we are doing. She can also be quite spooky when she has a severe bit, like a Pelham, in her mouth. She is SO relaxed and responsive in this bridle. I do use a sweet iron loose ring snaffle as well on occassions. When she has been wearing her bitless for a few rides she is happy enough in the loose ring snaffle as well. I don't like to see "smiles" when I use the loose ring snaffle. I also use this bridle on Polly and again a sweet irong loose ring snaffle on occassions, again without smiles. Below is a bit about the Dr.Cook bitless bridle I am using.

Verb-X Herbal Wormer
Wednesday, 02 January 2008

I use Verm-X for our 3 horses, 3 cats & 2 dogs. It is easy to use for the horses as it is only fed every 3 months or so. They chuck the food about for the first one or two doses but it soon settles down and they take it quite easily. I tend to put some Apple Cider Vinegar in their food at the same time to mask the smell of the Verm-X.

Can be a bit of a pain to feed the cats and dogs as they have to get a dose daily. Problem is remembering every day and you have to stand over them or they won't eat the Verm-X biscuits. I tend to just give them as I remember and have time to encourage them to eat them.
